§ 8. Sir FREDERICK CAWLEYasked what proportion of machine guns had the British Army per battalion, and what proportion had the German Army at the commencement of the War; what steps were then taken to remedy the deficiency of machine guns at the commencement of the War; and on what date was the first order placed for machine guns in America?
§ Mr. TENNANTI answered a question on this point put to me by the hon. Member for the West Toxteth Division on the 21st instant. I do not think it would be in the public interest to give the detailed information asked for in the last two parts of the question, but I may assure my hon. Friend that every possible step is being taken to increase the supply of this weapon.
