HC Deb 28 June 1915 vol 72 cc1457-8
18. Mr. HOGGE

asked the Attorney-General whether, as a result of the recent prosecution in camera of a London newspaper, steps are being taken to indicate to other newspaper proprietors the nature of the offence?

Sir E. CARSON

All newspapers were warned at the time not to publish any further details of such events as are referred to in this newspaper than are contained in the report issued by the Press Bureau.

Mr. HOGGE

Would it not be advisable to give the editors of newspapers, who are liable to very severe penalties, a concrete instance of the kind of thing which got this man into trouble?

Sir E. CARSON

A summary of the trial has been published in the newspapers. I do not think it will be necessary to do what the hon. Gentleman suggests.
