HC Deb 23 June 1915 vol 72 cc1305-6

Considered in Committee, and reported without Amendment.

Motion made, and Question proposed, "That the Bill be now read the third time."

Mr. KING

I beg to protest against this Motion. The Government have got a great deal of business, and this might possibly give rise to some further discussion. I must persist in my objection.

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the LOCAL GOVERNMENT BOARD (Mr. Hayes Fisher)

A very valuable Consolidation Bill containing all the various Acts and Regulations relating to this industry met with the approval of this House. It passed Second Reading on 17th May, and was sent to a Joint Committee of the House of Lords and House of Commons, which deals with Consolidation Bills, and which is now waiting for the Bill. It cannot deal with it until the House has disposed of this Bill. I hope the House will assent to the Third Reading in order that the Committee may deal at once with the Consolidation Bill, which was asked for unanimously by the House.

Mr. KING

That is no explanation at all. The Committee is not, I suppose, consolidating this Bill with the other?

Mr. HAYES FISHER

That is so; it cannot deal with the Consolidation Bill until it knows the fate of this Bill. It is waiting for this Bill.

Question put, and agreed to.

Bill read the third time, and passed.
