§ 19. Mr. FELLasked the Under-Secretary of State for War if he will consider the possibility of uniting the various volunteer training corps and bodies of national and town guards formed for the defence of the country in one comprehensive force and to entrust them with the duty of resisting air raids and supplying them with weapons for that purpose, seeing that these corps exist in almost every town and village and would be everywhere available?
§ Mr. TENNANTThis matter is under consideration. I cannot make any statement.
§ Mr. FELLIs there not a large amount of excellent material in the shape of old Volunteers and Territorials, and, if some comprehensive scheme could be adopted would it not be of great advantage?
§ Mr. TENNANTThat fact will be borne in mind in arriving at a decision.
