HC Deb 15 June 1915 vol 72 cc539-40
35. Mr. RAFFAN

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether his attention has been called to the dispute in the cotton trade; and whether, in view of the evils which would follow from a stoppage of work in this industry, he has taken any action in the matter or proposes to do so?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the BOARD of TRADE (Captain Pretyman)

The critical stages of the discussions between the employers and employed in the cotton trade have had my right hon. Friend's constant attention. Certain proposals for a settlement have been put before the parties and these proposals are now being considered.
