asked the First Lord of the Admiralty whether he is aware that certain men employed in the Royal Naval Hospital, Stonehouse, have had to refund money paid to them for working overtime; and will he explain why this has been done?

Dr. MACNAMARA

In view of the abnormal conditions prevailing it was decided in September last that civilian employés in hospitals paid for seven days a week should receive overtime pay for time worked in excess of fifty-two hours a week during the War. There was some local misunderstanding as to the precise rates to be paid, which rendered necessary the refund referred to.
