§ 42. Sir FORTESCUE FLANNERYasked the Chancellor of the Exchequer whether he will explain the practice of the Inland Revenue authorities in regard to-workmen earning weekly wages exceeding £160 per annum; whether the practice differs in different parts of the country; and whether all employers are required to make a return of all such workmen, with the amounts of their earnings?
§ Mr. McKENNAThe matter is governed by Section 21 of the Finance Act, 1907; the obligation to return the names and wages of employés earning more than £160 a year applies to all employers, and I am not aware of any local discrimination.
