HC Deb 05 July 1915 vol 73 cc40-1
14. Mr. W. THORNE

asked the Secretary to the Treasury if he is aware that persons in receipt of old age pensions who become ill can obtain, by or on the recommendation of a Poor Law medical officer, medical or surgical assistance, including food and comforts, and that the receipt of such assistance does not disqualify them from the continuance of the pension; and whether he will have a statement making known the facts printed in each pension order book?

Mr. MONTAGU

With the issue of each pension book a form is filled up by the recipent which bears on it information of the kind suggested by my hon Friend. I am considering whether this is sufficient to acquaint the pensioner with the conditions, but I do not think anything further could usefully be printed in the book itself.
