§ 17. Mr. DENMANasked the Secretary for Scotland whether any school boards in Scotland have pressed for a relaxation of the conditions governing school attendance in order to enable children to enter agricultural employment or have taken any steps to encourage such use of cheap child labour?
The SECRETARY for SCOTLAND (Mr. McKinnon Wood)I have received one or two representations to this effect from school boards, but I am not aware of any district in which the conditions governing exemption from school attendance under the age of fourteen have in point of fact been in any way relaxed.
