HC Deb 17 February 1915 vol 69 c1141
42. Mr. BRIDGEMAN

asked the President of the Board of Education if the Board have issued a threat to the Shropshire education committee that, if a third medical officer is not appointed immediately, the grants formerly paid by the Board on account of the existing medical officers will be reduced?

Mr. ROBERTSON (on behalf of Mr. Pease)

The reply to this question is in the negative. The Board of Education have been in correspondence with the Shropshire education authority as to the steps which might be taken to provide for the medical inspection of children between eight and nine years of age, which the authority state would involve the appointment of a third medical officer. In this and other cases the Board have undertaken to make every allowance for the difficulties with which authorities may be faced.
