HC Deb 17 February 1915 vol 69 c1144
102. Mr. HUGH LAW

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether, in view of the distress arising out of the interference with the fishing industry on the coast of North-west Donegal, consequent upon the War, the Treasury will now permit the issue of grants, previously sanctioned by them, for the improvement of the harbours of Buncrana, Rathmullen, and Burtonport, and will carry out the engagements entered into in this matter between several Government Departments and the Donegal County Council, on the faith of which the council agreed to raise considerable sums of money by way of loan?

Mr. ACLAND

I have made careful inquiry, and the evidence placed before me is not such as would justify the issue of these grants at the present time.

Mr. HUGH LAW

I beg to give notice that in consequence of the unsatisfactory reply of the hon. Gentleman I shall raise this question on the Motion for Adjournment.
