HC Deb 15 February 1915 vol 69 cc992-4

Considered in Committee.

Motion made, and Question proposed, "That it is expedient to authorise the grant, out of moneys provided by Parliament, of certain pensions and allowances in respect of members of the Royal Irish Constabulary and Dublin Metropolitan Police who are Reservists or join the Naval or Military Forces."

Mr. T. W. RUSSELL (Vice-President of the Department of Agriculture, Ireland)

The object of this Bill is simply to define the position of Irish police reserves by Act of Parliament rather than by means of Order in Council, and to place the Irish police Volunteers in the same position as Irish Police Reservists. This becomes necessary because some 200 men of the Royal Irish Constabulary and some 100 of the Dublin Metropolitan Police have volunteered for service in the Irish Guards, and it is only just that they should be placed in the same position as the Irish Reservists.

Question put, and agreed to.

Resolution to be reported To-morrow.

The remaining Orders were read, and postponed.

Whereupon Mr. SPEAKER, pursuant to the Order of the House of the 3rd February, proposed the Question, "That this House do now adjourn."

Question put, and agreed to.

Adjourned accordingly at Seven minutes after Eight o'clock.
