HC Deb 11 February 1915 vol 69 cc714-5
52. Mr. BUTCHER

asked why the household canvass which has been successfully conducted by the Parliamentary Recruiting Committee in England, Scotland, and Wales has not yet been extended to Ireland?

The PRIME MINISTER

I am informed that this matter is still under the consideration of the Parliamentary Recruiting Committee

Mr. BUTCHER

Can the right hon. Gentleman say why it has not been extended to Ireland before?

The PRIME MINISTER

I have nothing to do with the proceedings of the Committee. The Committee consists of the Chief Whips of the various parties in the House, and I am sure we can rely upon them to do what is right.
