HC Deb 11 February 1915 vol 69 cc704-5
27. Mr. G. TERRELL

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he will say what steps have been taken to organise the manufacture of aniline dyes in this country; and what assistance, either financially or by way of protective tariff, are the Government prepared to give to aid the establishment of the industry?

28. Sir C. KINLOCH-COOKE

asked the President of the Board of Trade if he is prepared to make a statement to the House on the question of aniline dyes; will he say what is the difference between the old and the new scheme proposed by the Government; and why it became necessary to introduce a new scheme at all?

33. Sir ALFRED MOND

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he can now issue a memorandum explaining the Government scheme for assisting the manufacture of aniline dyes in Great Britain; and whether an opportunity will be given for the discussion of the scheme?

The PRESIDENT of the BOARD of TRADE (Mr. Runciman)

I do not think I can usefully add anything at the present stage to the very full statement which I made in answer to my hon. Friend the Member for Huddersfield on Monday last.

Mr. G. TERRELL

May I ask whether the company has now been formed and the capital subscribed?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

I cannot add anything at the present stage to what I stated on Monday.

Sir C. KINLOCH-COOKE

Did the right hon. Gentleman on Monday explain the difference between the old and the now scheme?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

Yes; if the hon. Gentleman will refer to my answer he will see that I did.
