HC Deb 11 February 1915 vol 69 cc732-3
21. Mr. KING

asked the President of the Board of Education whether he is aware that spray baths were proposed to be installed in the basement of the projected new council school at Abertillery, but were objected to in connection with their position; whether he is aware that spray baths installed in the basements of schools in Glasgow have proved quite satisfactory; and whether, before finally condemning proposals for spray baths in the basements of new schools, he will consult the school board of Glasgow on the subject?

Mr. J. A. PEASE

The Board of Education do not object to the installation of spray baths in the basement of a school building, but it is necessary for them to satisfy themselves that the ventilation and lighting are adequate. This was not the case as regards the baths proposed to be installed in the new council school at Abertillery, and it was for this reason that the Board were unable to approve the proposals of the local enducation authority

Mr. KING

Will the right hon. Gentle man approach the Glasgow authority in order to find out how they manage these spray baths?

Mr. PEASE

That is a matter for the management.
