HC Deb 10 February 1915 vol 69 c577
38. Mr. H. W. FORSTER

asked the Attorney-General if his attention has been drawn to the allegations made against the Public Trustee by Sir H. George Small-man, lately tenant of Homeside, Devon shire Place, Eastbourne; and if he intends to direct the Public Trustee to bring an action for libel against his late tenant?

Sir JOHN SIMON

The answer to the first part of the question is in the affirmative, and to the second part in the negative.

Mr. FORSTER

Has the Attorney-General any authority in regard to the Public Trustee?

Sir J. SIMON

I do not see any reason why the Public Trustee should take the action suggested.

40. Mr. ROWLANDS

asked the Financial Secretary to the Treasury whether he is now in a position to state what action has been taken to place the organisation of the staff of the Public Trustee office on a more permanent basis?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the TREASURY (Mr. Acland)

The Treasury has already agreed to proposals for giving the staff of the Public Trustee's Department a permanent and pensionable status, subject to the issue in their favour of Civil Service certificates by the Civil Service Commissioners.
