HC Deb 10 February 1915 vol 69 c572
73. Mr. HUDSON

asked the Financial Secretary to the War Office if he can say what is the amount of further contracts to be given out for the building of huts for soldiers in various parts of the country; and to what extent the building firms who have already done in a satisfactory-way a large amount of this class of building work under sub-contract will now be placed on the lists and allowed to tender as original contractors?

Mr. BAKER

It is not expected that any further contracts will be placed for the erection of huts, except on a very small scale. Any building firm may apply to be placed on the War Office list, and any such application would be favourably considered, subject to the usual conditions as to capacity and financial soundness.
