HC Deb 10 February 1915 vol 69 cc557-8
31. Mr. JOWETT

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will ascertain from each of the firms in the Bradford district who are weaving cloths of the ordinary standard qualities for soldiers' clothing under Government contracts the price paid per pick, per inch, to the weavers for their work?

Mr. BAKER

My right hon. Friend has asked me to reply to this question. The earnings of weavers depend on so many varying conditions that I doubt whether any useful purpose would be served by the inquiry suggested.
