HC Deb 09 February 1915 vol 69 c397
39. Colonel YATE

asked which of the Militia regiments in the Channel Islands and Malta have volunteered for active service at the front, and how many of those offers have been accepted; and whether it is proposed to raise similar Militia in Cyprus?

Mr TENNANT

Offers of a Militia company from Guernsey and of another from Jersey have been accepted for service with battalions of the New Armies. A battalion of the Malta Militia volunteered to serve outside Malta and the offer has been accepted. I am unable, to make any statement regarding the probability of Militia being raised in Cyprus.

Colonel YATE

Will the Malta regiment be sent on active service to the front?

Mr. TENNANT

I cannot say that; but the offer has been accepted.
