HC Deb 04 February 1915 vol 69 cc142-3
78. Mr. HENRY TERRELL

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War upon whose advice the War Office took the White City as winter quarters for troops; was such advice given in writing; if so, will he lay that writing upon the Table of the House; upon what terms have the Government taken the White City; and will he lay the lease or agreement upon the Table?

Mr. BAKER

The White City was originally occupied by troops under an agreement made by the Territorial Force Association of the County of London, which expired on 31st December last. The War Office then took over the premises on a new agreement, acting upon its knowledge of their suitability. The agreement is not yet signed, but I shall be happy to communicate its terms to the hon. and learned Member if he so desires.

Mr. GERSHOM STEWART

Does the War Office attend to the sanitary arrangements in the White City?

Mr. BAKER

The hon. Member must give notice of that question.
