§ Mr. GEORGE ROBERTSI beg to present a Petition from the mayor, aldermen and councillors of the city of Norwich, under their corporate seal, representing that the present increase in the cost of necessaries of life presses heavily on the citizens. They acknowledge that this increase may be in part due to causes which in time of war are unavoidable, but they represent that as to other increases they are due to preventable causes, some of which they enumerate, and they humbly pray this House to take such action as may be necessary to deal with this matter so that the citizens may be relieved from needless burdens, and that their food may be obtainable at the lowest possible cost.
