HC Deb 04 February 1915 vol 69 c120
10. Sir J. D. REES

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether the only two newspapers published in the English language in Peking have lately been bought by Germans; and, if so, what steps, if any, have been, or are being, taken to countervail the information given by these papers to the public in Peking and the province of Pechili?

Sir E. GREY

I have no exact information as to the matter dealt with in the first part of the question, but I understand that the two papers referred to continue to publish British news. It would not be in the public interest to make a statement with regard to the latter part of the question.
