§ 73. Mr. LUNDONasked the Under-Secretary for War if he is now satisfied that most people, and particularly Members of Parliament, are well aware of the names of the officers who had charge of the Suvla Bay landing; whether he will now give the names to the public; will he say if one of these officers, who was recalled and cashiered, is now doing military duty in London; and, if so, what is the nature of that duty?
§ Mr. TENNANTI do not think it desirable to give publicity to the names of officers who have been relieved of their commands at the front. As my hon. Friend assures me these names are well known, the publication of them would be more punitive than informative. None of these officers have been cashiered. Cashiering is a punishment which can only be inflicted by sentence of court-martial, and then only for offences of the most disgraceful nature.
