HC Deb 23 December 1915 vol 77 c600
45. Sir C. KINLOCH-COOKE

asked the Prime Minister to what, if any, purposes the returns under the National Registration Act have been placed other than in connection with enlistment for the New Armies?

Mr. HAYES FISHER

Apart from its main use in connection with recruiting and its general value as a record of our resources of labour, the information contained in the National Register has been used by the Ministry of Munitions, the Board of Trade, and the Board of Agriculture, and the tabulated results of the registration of women have been supplied to the Committee appointed to consider the question of substituting female for male labour.
