HC Deb 23 December 1915 vol 77 c594
22. Sir J. D. REES

asked the President of the Local Government Board whether he is aware of the action of the Hertfordshire County Council in laying down wood pavement at the present crisis from Bushey to Watford, and of the Middlesex County Council in duplicating for 100 yards, more or less, the side walk of the main road between Edgware and Stanmore, presumably for the convenience of one householder and to save him the trouble of crossing the road; and whether, in view of the need for economy on the part of local bodies, he will again enjoin on local bodies the imperative need of reducing the rates?

The PARLIAMENTARY SECRETARY to the LOCAL GOVERNMENT BOARD (Mr. Hayes Fisher)

My right hon. Friend is in communication with the local authorities named, and will inform my hon. Friend of the result.
