HC Deb 23 December 1915 vol 77 c611
41. Sir C. HENRY

asked the Chancellor of the Exchequer if he will state what arrangements have been made as regards American securities which are held by German and Austrian banking institutions, domiciled in this country, for account of German and Austrian subjects?

Mr. McKENNA

No securities tendered under the Treasury scheme will be accepted unless suported by a declaration that they have remained in physical possession in the United Kingdom or have been in the ownership of the depositor since 30th September, 1914, and that they have not since the outbreak of War been in enemy ownership. No special arrangements have been made in regard to securities held by the London establishments of the banks referred to in the question.
