HC Deb 21 December 1915 vol 77 c195
24. Mr. WATT

asked the Lord Advocate whether his attention has been called to the statutory necessity that all sheriffs-substitute in Scotland should reside with in their jurisdictions; if so, has it been brought to his notice that this is not being carried out; and will he inquire into and publish the cases where in this respect the administrators of the law are not themselves carrying out its enactments?

The LORD ADVOCATE (Mr. Munro)

The statutory provision to which my hon. and learned Friend refers was repealed by the Sheriff Courts (Scotland) Act, 1907, Section 19 of which now governs the matter of residence. I am not aware of any case in which the law, as it now stands, is not observed.
