§ 8. Mr. WATTasked the Under-Secretary of State for War whether his Department has considered the advisability of allowing the members of the Territorial 179 regiments whose time expires in the next few months, and who have spent considerable time in the trenches, to take their discharges, have a holiday, and again volunteer, but with a choice of their sphere of service for the remaining period of the War; and, if not, will he say what inducement is being offered, or is proposed to be offered, to those men to induce them to volunteer again?
§ Mr. TENNANTThe questions raised have been under consideration, and their importance is fully recognised, but I cannot undertake to make any statement at the present time.
§ Mr. WATTThe right hon. Gentleman sees, no doubt, the wisdom of offering these men some sort of inducement?
§ Mr. TENNANTOh, yes, that is fully appreciated.
