HC Deb 21 December 1915 vol 77 c190
49. Mr. KING

asked the Prime Minister whether the statement that Britain is maintaining three millions of her Allies' soldiers in the field still holds good of present conditions; whether any undertakings have been given that this number will continue to be maintained; and whether in any way this statement can, with due regard to military exigencies, be amplified at the present time?

The PRIME MINISTER

I am unable to trace any such statement as that to which my hon. Friend refers in the first part of the question. The subsequent parts of the question do not therefore arise.

Mr. KING

Is my right hon. Friend not aware of the statement made by the Secretary to the Treasury in connection with the last Budget, I think, only three months ago?

The PRIME MINISTER

I am afraid not. If my hon. Friend will send me the statement—

Mr. KING

I shall be very happy to do so.
