§ 27. Mr. MITCHELL-THOMSONasked the Secretary to the Admiralty whether he is now in a position to publish the scheme for the awards of prize bounty; and whether he can make any definite announcement as to the prospect of an early distribution of prize money or prize bounty?
§ Dr. MACNAMARAAs I have already explained, whilst it is not thought possible to make any payment of prize money until after the close of hostilities, it is proposed from time to time to make prize bounty awards. Arrangements in connection with the first payment are now being completed, and it is hoped that the claim may be submitted to the Prize Court at the earliest opportunity—probably during next month. Payments will, of course, be made without delay as soon as the decision of the Court in each case is given.
§ Mr. MITCHELL-THOMSONIs the distribution of prize bounty to be in accordance with a scheme, and, if so, when will the scheme be published?
§ Dr. MACNAMARAThe distribution will be under a scheme which will require the sanction of an Order in Council. So soon as that can be obtained the scheme will be published.
