HC Deb 27 April 1915 vol 71 c582
75. Mr. CHARLES DUNCAN

asked the Secretary to the Treasury whether, in view of the fact that the office of Public Trustee (which was created in 1906) has now been officially declared to have been assimilated with the Civil Service, the Lords Commissioners of the Treasury can now see their way to proceed with the recommendations of the Royal Commission in regard to the unestablished staffs of the solicitors to the public departments, especially in view of the fact that the system at present prevailing has been in existence ever since 1890?

Mr. ACLAND

The recommendations referred to involve important questions of organisation affecting several departments, and I fear that I see no prospect of its being possible to give them adequate consideration at the present juncture, when the work of the departments affected is in many respects abnormal. The recommendations have, however, not been lost sight of, and the matter will be taken up as soon as circumstances permit.
