HC Deb 22 April 1915 vol 71 cc416-7
8. Mr. HOGGE

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he will explain why special trains were run on Easter Monday to Kempton Park for the races, as all ordinary Bank Holiday excursions were cancelled?

Mr. RUNCIMAN

I am informed by the Railway Executive Committee that the arrangement to run the special trains referred to was in accordance with the decision of which I informed my hon. Friend in reply to his question of the 22nd February. No cheap tickets were issued, and the passengers conveyed in those trains that did run paid special fares above the ordinary fares.
