§ Sir H. VERNEYThere, have been 741 mares leased to custodians since 1911. The number of mares leased at present is 557.

§ Sir H. VERNEYA number of mares unfit for further military service have been selected in France by an inspector of the Board and sold in this country with a view to their being used for breeding. I doubt whether it would be possible to arrange for the return of horses suitable for farm work, but I shall be glad to convey the hon. Member's suggestion to the War Office.
