HC Deb 22 April 1915 vol 71 cc402-3
57. Mr. WALTER GUINNESS

asked the Under-Secretary of State for War whether he is aware that, owing to the advance in the prices of groceries, the difference between the money value of Scale I. and Scale II. grocery ration is now 5½d.; and whether the daily allowance of 4d. per man on Scale II. may therefore be increased to a fairer equivalent for the difference in value between the two scales?

The FINANCIAL SECRETARY to the WAR OFFICE (Mr. H. Baker)

The contract rates on which the difference was based show no appreciable alteration, and there is no ground for giving any increase.
