asked the Secretary to the Admiralty how many additional hired writers or temporary clerks are employed in the dockyards; and what remuneration is paid to them?

Dr. MACNAMARA

As regards the first part of the question, I have called for information from the dockyards, and will send the hon. Member the number as soon as the returns are complete. With regard to the second part, the temporary writers in the dockyards are being paid 24s. a week, but I may say that the question of the rate is under consideration.
