HC Deb 22 April 1915 vol 71 c412
82 and 83. Sir RICHARD COOPER

asked (1) whether claims for arrears of billeting money due for November and December last to forty-six occupiers of forty-six furnished and occupied houses in and near Mile End, Colchester, in respect of billets taken up for men of the Norfolk and Suffolk Infantry Brigade are still unpaid; whether payments have been made of approximately 1¼d. per man per night instead of 9d.; and what is the reason of the delay in payment of the balance; and (2) when the balance owing, namely, £12 10s. 3d., for billeting five men of the 5th Suffolk Regiment for seventy-six days on the occupier of 20, Mile End, Colchester, a furnished and occupied house, will be paid; and why a sum of £1 18s. 6d. only has been paid in respect of these men, equal to less than 1¼d. per night, when 9d. per night has been paid by other battalions for similar accommodation in the same town?

Mr. BAKER
