HC Deb 22 April 1915 vol 71 c400
53. Mr. TICKLER

asked the Prime Minister if he will consider the advisability of availing himself of the business men of the country to advise the Government in the vast purchases of equipment and food for the Army and Navy, and so leave the military to prosecute the War to the full extent of their power and ability, without having to engage in commercial matters to which they have not been trained, especially as this principle has been so successfully carried out with regard to the financing of the War?

The PRIME MINISTER

I must refer the hon. Member to the Debate which took place in the House yesterday. From the beginning of the War, in the case of both Departments, the advice and services of business men have been freely utilsed.
