HC Deb 21 April 1915 vol 71 c268
47. Mr. KING

asked the Prime Minister whether he can indicate any measure which the Government propose to take in view of the refusal of the House of Lords to permit a council to be established for the United Provinces of Agra and Oudh?

Mr. LLOYD GEORGE

My noble Friend the Secretary of State for India is in communication with the Viceroy on the subject, and in present circumstances my right hon. Friend the Prime Minister is not prepared to indicate the possible methods of reopening the subject in response to further evidence of public opinion in India.

Mr. KING

May I conclude that there will be some opportunity of reopening the subject before the War comes to an end?
