HC Deb 15 April 1915 vol 71 c35
12. Mr. HOGGE

asked how many of the eighty-two special battalions are now directly under the control of the War Office?

Mr. TENNANT

None of these special battalions have yet been taken over.

Mr. HOGGE

Can the right hon. Gentleman say whether the War Office proposes to take any of them over?

Mr. TENNANT

We agree it is desirable that they should be taken over with as little delay as possible, but there are certain preliminaries which have to be gone through, and certain principles which are still under consideration.

Mr. HOGGE

Does the right hon. Gentleman remember giving me the same answer six weeks ago?

Mr. TENNANT

I am unable to carry in my mind the exact words I used, but I believe they were practically similar.
