I beg to ask the Prime Minister, a question of which I have given him private notice, namely: Whether the Government have set up a Committee to supervise the placing of contracts for munitions of war, and whether he can give the names of the members of the Committee?

The PRIME MINISTER

The appointment of such a Committee was decided upon a month ago, and the Departments have been busy in preparing the ground for its activities. The function of the Committee is to ensure the promptest and most efficient application of all the available productive resources of the country to the manufacture and supply of munitions of war for the Navy and Army. It has full authority to take all steps necessary for that purpose.

The composition of the Committee is as follows:—
