HC Deb 15 September 1914 vol 66 cc875-6
11. Mr. C. BATHURST

asked the Parliamentary Secretary to the Board of Agriculture whether the recent outbreaks of foot-and-mouth disease near Grimsby were traceable to hay or straw used for packing merchandise imported from the Continent; if so, from what country; and, if not, what is the supposed origin of these outbreaks?

Sir H. VERNEY

The answer to the first part of the question is in the negative. In reply to the last part, the Board are not at present in a position to express any opinion as to the origin of infection.
