Mr. KINGasked the Under-Secretary of State for War whether return tickets are issued at a single fare for soldiers permitted to return home on short leave; whether, if so, such privilege tickets are issued at all railway booking offices or only on certain lines and on strict conditions; and whether he can state the terms of such tickets in a way to make these facilities known as widely and clearly as possible?
§ Mr. TENNANTThe privilege ticket system is already in operation throughout Great Britain. It is believed that in certain cases full advantage of the provisional arrangements may not have been obtained, but fresh instructions are being issued which will, it is hoped, remove any possible misunderstanding.
