HC Deb 27 November 1914 vol 68 c1490
8. Mr. HADDOCK

asked the Secretary to the Admiralty if he is aware that there is dissatisfaction in British Colombia owing to it being understood that Government contracts specify for Alaska red salmon for Army and Navy supplies; and, if this is not the case, will he make a statement which will allay this dissatisfaction?

Dr. MACNAMARA

I was not aware that any such dissatisfaction existed, and I am glad to have this opportunity of stating that there is no ground for it, as far as the Navy is concerned. The Admiralty does not specify Alaska red salmon, but leaves it open to firms tendering to offer any suitable brand. We are guided solely by considerations of price and quality.
