Mr. FLAVINasked the President of the Board of Trade whether he can say why the sugar over which the Government has control is not sold to merchants residing in Cork and Kerry; and whether he is aware that a charge of 1s. 6d. per bag is made by Messrs. Lyles over and above the standard price fixed by the Government where any sugars are offered to Cork or Kerry merchants?
Mr. RUNCIMANI am informed that all firms purchasing direct from Messrs. Lyle and Sons have been supplied at the same prices as ex-refinery. If the hon. Member will furnish me with the details of the cases to which his question refers. I will have inquiry made into the matter.
