HC Deb 19 November 1914 vol 68 cc542-3
21. Mr. PRINGLE

asked whether any British newspapers have published news which would be of value to the enemy; if so, what are the names of the newspapers; and what action, if any, was taken by the Government?

Sir S. BUCKMASTER

The answer to the first part of the question is undoubtedly in the affirmative. After full inquiry I have no reason to doubt that the information referred to was given through inadvertence, and it would not be fair in these circumstances to publish the names of the papers. Beyond pointing out the serious mischief caused by such articles no action was taken.
