HC Deb 18 November 1914 vol 68 cc422-3
45. Mr. JOYNSON-HICKS

asked the Under-Secretary for War whether he will state, or give in a White Paper, the number of recruits obtained in each recruiting area since the 1st August last for each branch of His Majesty's Forces, and stating also the figures for each county and county borough?

56. Mr. DUNCAN MILLAR

asked the Under-Secretary for War whether he can state the number of recruits obtained from England, Scotland, Ireland, and Wales, respectively, since the beginning of the War?

Mr. TENNANT

My right hon. Friend the Prime Minister gave such information on this matter as is considered desirable and as is possible in his speech on Monday evening. The matter has been carefully considered, and I trust the hon. Members will not press for the further details asked for, many of which could not be given without throwing a heavy additional burden of clerical work on the War Office and on the recruiting authorities all over the country.
