HC Deb 18 November 1914 vol 68 c424
49. Colonel PEEL

asked the Under-Secretary for War whether he is aware that, on mobilisation, the appointment of musketry instructor in the extra Reserve battalions ceases to exist; and whether, in view of the fact that many more men in each battalion have to be instructed in musketry at the present moment than in normal times, this appointment may be revived, or permission may be granted for the appointment of assistant adjutants in the Special Reserve for musketry duties, as is the practice in battalions of the Regular Army?

Mr. TENNANT

This question had already been carefully reconsidered in the light of experience gained since mobilisation, but the military authorities are satisfied that the appointment should not be revived.
