HC Deb 18 November 1914 vol 68 cc410-1
19. Sir GEORGE SCOTT ROBERTSON

asked the President of the Board of Trade whether he has any information showing that certain goods now marked "Made in Holland" are identical with goods formerly (before the War) marked "Made in Germany," and are actually of German manufacture; and, if so, will he say what, if any, steps he proposes to take in the matter?

The PRESIDENT of the BOARD of TRADE (Mr. Runciman)

Allegations have been made to my Department that certain goods marked "Made in Holland" have been in fact made in Germany. Any such marking would, of course, be a breach of the Merchandise Marks Act, and if sufficient evidence of an offence of this character can be produced in any instance I shall be prepared to take proceedings under that Act.
