HC Deb 17 November 1914 vol 68 c310
1. Sir JOHN JARDINE

asked the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs whether the Sovereign of the Principality of Lichtenstein is, by reason of alliance with Austria or any other cause, in a state, of war with this country; and whether any prohibition of commercial or other dealings with the subjects of the Prince has been published?

The SECRETARY of STATE for FOREIGN AFFAIRS (Sir Edward Grey)

I am informed by the United States Ambassador that the Sovereign Principality of Lichtenstein considers itself neutral in the present hostilities. No prohibition of commercial or other dealings with the subjects of the Prince has been published.

Sir J. JARDINE

Can publicity be given to this statement, seeing that one of the evening papers has published statements distinctly saying that this peaceable and friendly Prince is at war?

Mr. SPEAKER

We do not pay any attention to evening papers here.
