HC Deb 19 May 1914 vol 62 c1777
77. Mr. CATHCART WASON

asked the Postmaster-General whether, in view of the breakdown of telegraphic communication between Orkney and Shetland and Orkney and the mainland, and the period that elapsed before the cables could be repaired, he will extend his policy of establishing wireless stations to both Orkney and Shetland, considering the in convenience arising from a breakdown and the difficulty of effecting necessary repairs?

Mr. HOBHOUSE

As my hon. Friend is already aware, I am inquiring about the establishment of wireless communication with the Orkneys and Shetlands, but it will be some time before material for a decision can be obtained.
